We are an indigenous & women-led coffee and tea company that wishes to invite businesses to join us in an extraordinary journey of “Extending the Rafters”, a unique opportunity to celebrate economic reconciliation and foster ensuring relationships through the creation of curated gift boxes.
The Creation Story of Turtle Island:
In the beginning, there was only water, and all beings lived in the sky world. Sky Woman fell through a hole in the sky toward the water below. Animals tried to help her, and a large turtle offered his back for her to rest on. Needing earth to live on, animals dove to retrieve soil. The muskrat succeeded, placing the earth on the turtle’s back. With Sky Woman’s help, the land expanded, becoming Turtle Island, now known as North America.
The Outer Box Design Significance:
The Turtle Island design on the customized gift box, carries deep spiritual and cultural meaning for Indigenous peoples. It represents creation, the Earth, and the interconnectedness of all life. The turtle is a symbol of longevity, protection, and stability, while the design’s connection to the lunar cycle honours natural rhythms and Indigenous traditions. Extending The Rafters:
For centuries, the Haudenosaunee, known as “the People of the Longhouse,” has embodied a way of knowing and being that honours the spirit and good intent of fostering community growth and inclusivity. Their practice of “Extending the Rafters” symbolizes how communities extend the Longhouse to make room for friends and family, literally and metaphorically, fostering harmony and collective prosperity under one roof.
As the Longhouse expands, it fosters friendship, trust, and collaboration. This knowledge of unity resonates throughout Turtle Island like a rhythmic heartbeat.
